I realised these devlogs would be a better place to put all the changes to the game, rather than the description ^^;

Snake with a Gun v1.2:

In development, for browsers, and eventual android-mobiles.

CURRENT STATE:

Controls:

Movement: W, A, S, D or Arrow Keys  Gun: Left Mouse Button, or Space Bar

Features:

  • A Snake
  • A Gun (it takes a moment to reload) --- (this will be more obvious when I add sfx)
  • Ammo that spawns when you run out of bullets.
  • 2 Enemies that drop food, and spawn randomly on the board if shot. 
  • If player gets too close to enemy, they lose 1point on their score.
  • An in-game score and high score that keeps your high score between restarts (if you get out of the game, your high score is lost).
  • Pressure pads, that need to be pressed to open exit door.
  • Win / Lose States + Restart button
  • Body pieces disappear when the player is injured/loses score.

Known Bugs:

  • Backtracking: player can change directions quickly enough to go back over themselves, resulting in game over.
  • Enemies can randomly spawn on top of Player or items. Either resulting in an instant game over, or making it impossible for player to collect item or continue.
  • Some art assets don't face the correct direction (bullets/body pieces).
  • Ammo might spawn under enemy? Not certain on this one.

Yet to be Implemented:

  • Body pieces will disappear when the player is injured/loses score. (Now implemented!)
  • A tail piece that will follow the player/body.
  • Different types of enemies.
  • More Levels.
  • Will have full colour/animated sprites with SFX.
  • Menu.

Changes:

  • Larger screen resolution, and playing field.
  • If player has score: 0 (no body pieces), and touches the "danger-zone" around enemies, they are killed (game-over).
